Full Description

A walkover survey was conducted by Wordsworth Archaeological Services in 1996 for a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme application.

Site No: 38
Site name: Glenuig
Description: A small enclosure constructed of large boulders averaging lm by 0.5m by 0.5m is situates to the S of the burn running E from the N end of Egnaig Hill. It is aligned NW/SE and measures 5m by 3m. This was probably an animal pen. There are no other obvious sites in the vicinity, though a patch of bracken on the opposite bank of the burn may mark a grazing or even arable area connected with this site.
Recommendation: This site should be preserved from tree regeneration.<1>
