Full Description
A possible burial cairn near Broadford Airfield, Skye. It was recorded during a walkover survey in 2004 by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey (AALS) in advance of the proposed expansion of the Broadford Airfield. Site 3: A heather covered mound of stones which gentle probing shows lies partially below the peat overburden. The mound measures circa l 0.00m in visible diameter and stands roughly 2.00m above the present ground surface. A large hole (2.00m by 1.50m by l.00m deep) in the summit of the mound reveals the stone make-up of the cairn. This hole could be either a robber hole or a collapsed cist or chamber. <1>
The site is just about visible in vertical aerial photography. <2>
