Full Description

NC91NE 44 9598 1866.

At NC 9598 1866, on the top edge of a low natural terrace open to the S, is a peat-overgrown mound. It is 10.0m diameter by 1.0m high with a certain amount of bare stone, small to medium size, in evidence. There is an excavation hollow, about 2.5m diameter by 0.3m deep, in the top of the mound. No structural features are to be seen.
The area to the NE is one of hut circle settlement and some associated stone clearance heaps, and the mound could be of the latter though in location it would be an outlier. The form and setting impresses as a cairn.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (J M) 22 April 1976.
