Full Description

NC73NW 9 739 369

Earth and stone structures more circular than rectangular in a disturbed grassy area on a slight elevation. In the centre is a foundation about 4m by 3m with a possible entrance in the SE. Almost abutting it on the west is a low grassy mound, 8m in diameter with indications of stones round the perimeter. An oval setting of stones, 5m by 3m lies about 4m to the NE and about 28m SSE is a grassy platform about 11m in diameter and 0.3m high on the west with stones around much of the perimeter except on the east. About 280m NNE of the group is the outline of an enclosure, 11m in diameter with no apparent entrance, which may be an old sheepfold.
Visited by OS 9 May 1961.

These extremely ill-preserved shielings are as described; the possible 'old sheepfold' at NC 7400 3719 is in an area of afforestation, and has been destroyed.
Visited by OS 11 May 1977.
