Full Description
NC92SE 10 962 225.
Centred on NC 962225, on the gentle, lower slopes before a steeply rising SE-facing hillside, is a settlement of five hut-circles of similar type (A-E). The only signs of associated cultivation are sporadic mounds of stone clearance. In general the huts are reduced and heather-covered.
'A'-'C', in order, are internally 8.0m, 9.5m and 11.0m diameter with entrances in the S, and in 'A' a wall spread 2.5m, is discernible only here. In 'B' and 'C' a main wall spread of 2.0m is apparent broadening in 'B' to 3.0m at the entrance. 'A' has two opposing inner portal stones 0.6m high and 0.5m apart. A portal slab in the east side and edging stones in the opposing side gives an entrance width in 'C' of 1.2m.
'D' is 10.5m diameter internally. A main wall spread of 2.0m broadens to 3.0m at the entrance in the ESE.
'E', much the poorest preserved, is 8.5m internal diameter. The wall is obscure except at the entrance in the SE where a spread of about 3.0m is evident.
Surveyed at 1:10 560.
