Full Description
A good natural harbour, taking craft of up to 150 tons (NSAS, Eddertoun, V14, 453). Well placed for ferry transit to Newton Point. <1>
The grid reference given in <1> would place the harbour at the head of the Ardmore Creek, whereas the OS 1st Edition map shows it on the coast to the east-southeast. The OS Name Book states " A sand beach wih good anchorage capable of accomodating vessels of 150 tons burthen, situated about 1/4 mile N.E. of Ardmore."
