Situated on gently sloping W side of Loch Calder at ND 0738 5932 are the remains of a small scooped hut circle. It measures 9.2m in diameter and is formed by a turf bank with some stone present; the bank is about 3.2m wide and 0.4m high. The floor of the hut is about 2m below the level of the surrounding ground. The entrance, 2.0m wide, is in the SE, somewhat mutilated and obscured by reeds.

(ND 0738 5932) Hut Circle (NR) OS 6"map, (1963)
A heather and turf-covered enclosure supporting a substantial growth of reeds, set back into the foot of a slope in a damp situation. It measures 8.5m diameter within a bank 2.5m broad and up to 0.9m high. There is a gap, possibly an entrance, in the E arc. No evidence of a stone constituent is apparent in the enclosure build. This is not a hut circle. It is probably contemporary with the abandoned farmstead Carriside to the S.
Revised at 1:10 000. Visited by OS (J M) 31 June 1981.
Schduled as a hut circle in 1992.
Scheduled Ancient Monument Management Plan, 1st April 2003 to 31st March 2008. HS, 11/03/03. See assoc. docs. File.
