Close-Brook, 1986, Exploring Scots Heritage: says that "abandoned crofthouses can be seen S of the hill & cultivation ridges & clearance cairns W of it" - poss that has wrong alignments (HAW).
FMW drawing shows Runrig & lazy beds S of the fort and dun on both sides of modern track, but no clearance cairns,
See general photographic views of fort/dun, might be clearance cairns on these, but some distance away - HAW 12/2002
This number is used for clearance cairns to the N of the Dun. Three large mounds lie in a row that probably represent an old field line. The S point is similar to the GR above given by RCAHMS, the most northerly is at c214375891496. All are large, from the Dun the most southerly appears as an oval ring the other two are oval. There is another old field line to the W that is a turf covered stone wall. It is suggested by Mr Bastow that this area was cleared and established as a separate farm in the EC19. See photos - HAW 12/2002
