Full Description

Situated on E side of a boggy hollow on a wooded N-facing slope some 440m W of Larchfield cottage, there are remains of a burnt mound. 10.8m N-S by 7m transversely and up to about 0.6m in height; there is a roughly V-shaped hollow on E side but a central depression appears to separate the mound into two distinct sections.
Visited by RCAHMS 27 February 1989.

The cottage is currently (as of 13/07/2021) called 'Juniper Hill'.

A walkover survey at Loch Achility was undertaken by R. Spencer-Jones and S. North of NoSAS in February 2025.

In a tree-covered hollow, with north facing streams to the east and west of it, is a crescent-shaped mound, facing east, as described by RCAHMS in February 1989. There is a juniper tree now growing on it. Heavily vegetated, so no evidence of burnt material. <1>

Note; This feature is reported 30m west of the grid reference on the HER/Canmore so NGR adjusted. (TB 19/2/25)
