Full Description

NG65SE 1 6995 5251.

Situated 1.6km ESE of Lonbain, about 150m OD, is a group of some 18 huts disposed on either side of the Allt na Moine which flows through the centre of the site; there are largish oblong huts and small circular ones but none has traces of mounded foundations. (There were previously thought to have been possible cairns: Name Book 1875)

A rapid walk-over survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme application at North Applecross, Wester Ross, was undertaken by C. Dagg.

Site no. L5: Shieling Huts. A large shieling site with ten structures to the north of the river and nine to the south, on a flat green sheltered area below a waterfall. Structures are of varying sizes, mostly simple horse-shoe shaped storage structures, some more complex and maybe used as dwelling huts. <1>
