Full Description
NC20NE 5 2980 0880 and 2980 0883
NC 2980 0880. A large, heather-covered mound of partial stone construction, 15 m in diameter.
J M Howell 1976, No. 32
NC 2980 0883. Three banks about 0.5m wide forming an enclosure along the side of a burn. Possibly a small mill.
J M Howell, Loubcroy and Ledmore Survey, 1976, no.33 & map
This is not a mound as such, but the detached end of a low, narrow ridge, separated from it by a shallow gully (the summit of the 'mound' being at about the same level as the adjacent ridge). Where the heather covering has broken away, the content of shattered stones is exposed. There is no evidence to indicate that it is other than a natural feature.
Probably a dam; no trace of a mill house.
Visited by OS (N K B) 18 June 1980.
