The remains of at least two buildings and several enclosure banks lie in the vicinity of the deserted cottage at Garbhairidh. The first lies 80m NE of the cottage (NH 5757 8387) and measures at least 7.5m by 4.2m over grass-grown walls about 0.6m in height and spread to about 1.5m in thickness. Its S end is truncated by an old stream channel.
The second building is attached to a bank 105m N of the cottage (NH 5751 8391); it measures 6.5m from N to S by 4.5m over grass-grown footings spread 1.3m in thickness and from 0.2m to 0.4m in height. What may be fragments of a third building, truncated by the stream, are visible a further 20m to the NW, while a possible fourth lies at the junction of three banks midway between the third building and the deserted cottage.
Visited by RCAHMS (SPH) 14 November 1989.
Two unroofed buildings are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet xxxix), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1986).
Informaton from RCAHMS (AKK) 21 February 1996.
