Full Description

Situated on a ridge, just visible from the Ostaig to Achnacloich road where it crosses the western fork of the Allt a' Mhuilinn, are the remains of three buildings. All angles are rounded, in walls approx. 60cm thick. Part of Ostaig Bheag?
Visited by P Stansfield, 4 June 1990. <1>

A small settlement was noted by WCAS during a 2011 DBA and walkover survey in advance of a woodland creation scheme. It was located on a flat terrace with a S-facing aspect under bracken, grass and moss and consisted of a kiln, possible byre, houses, enclosures and a bank. See attached report for details of individual structures, site nos. 133a-g <1>

NOTE: With reference to <1>, no, judging by the 1800 estate map extracts in <2>, this would appear to be 'Leanigearrigh'. The last part of that placename would seem to be from, as it would be in modern Gaelic, 'airigh' - 'shieling' [IS-L14/08/2025].
