Full Description
A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.
Running across the slope half-way up between the HWM and the modern road is a dry-stone revetment. This feature stands to six courses (0.55 m high) of small beach-cobbles. This was built to revet the slope below the road and it slopes down across the contour from the culvert (site no 66 above) for 24 m before levelling-out and running parallel with the slope. <1>
