Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

Running NW from the modern road to the shingle-beach is a short length of grassed-over track. This measures 2.1 m wide and runs for 8 m with the sides revetted with dry-stone facing. This is an element of the pre-tarmac road giving access to the water. <1>
