Full Description

A former RAF accomodation camp, part of Tain Airfield known as 'Dispersed Site 1'. No traces appear to survive, though vegetation may be concealing remains.

Detailed plans of the airfield dating to 1945-6 are held by the Royal Air Force Museum. A digital copy (albeit undated) is held in the HER collections. The camp is shown and labelled on the plan. <1>

A large military camp is depicted on OS 1:10000 map (1959), comprising a number of buildings. One air raid shelter is reported as depicted at NH 8389 8079 on the OS 1:2500 map (1970).
