The former township of Wester Ainich, Glen Moriston.
A small cluster of buildings within a suggested enclosure on the west side of a watercourse surrounded by cultivated fields is shown at this location and labelled 'Wr. Ainich'on the Roy Military Survey maps. The Bernera to Fort Augustus military road is shown passing immediately adjacent to the north after crossing the watercourse. 'Er Ainich' is shown just to the northeast. <1>
Only an unnamed sheepfold is shown here by the time of the OS 1st Edition. <2>
On vertical aerial photographs a small, trapezoidal enclosure is visible just to the north of the remains of the sheepfold at NGR 224929 811557 and on the opposite side of the burn to the small enclosure are the remains of two, possibly three rectangular buildings at NGR 225059 811559. The latter may have been part of the township but may not be associated. <3> <4> <5>
