Remains of a farmstead to the northwest of Caplich, Strath Oykel, partly noted by J Harden during a rapid pre-afforestation walkover in 1998.

Four enclosures, situated on the lower, SW-facing slope of Cnoc an Tosgaire, were noted during a pre-afforestation survey at Caplich. All four enclosures are depicted on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1967). The two north enclosures at NC 3459 0420 (see MHG34944) and NC 3465 0405 (see MHG64878) are much larger than those to the south, at NC 3474 0377 and NC 3472 0377, which lie in an area of dense rushes and were not located during the survey. The enclosures are defined by heather, or grass-covered, sinuous boulder dykes spread to 0.8m in width and standing up to 0.4m in height. The enclosures are probably associated with the settlement of Touskerry (NC30SW 4) recorded by Roy (1747-55). <1>

The two enclosures noted, though not seen in the field in 1998, are visible as sub-rectangular features on vertical aerial photography and SEPA LiDAR data. They are located at the northern end of what appears to be a dispersed farmstead comprising at least three buildings, of which two are longhouses, and a complex of dykes and enclosures. A field containing rig on the edge of the River Oykel just to the west lies immediately adjacent to the northwest. <2> <3>
