Full Description

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment for the National Trust estate at Torridon was carried out by J Wordsworth and J Harden between 1996 and 2002.

Two tin sheds used to stand on the west side of the road through Fasag, in rush-infested grassland. One had been dismantled/fallen down before 1997, the other was taken down a year or two later. They are both marked on the OS 1:2500 map of the area.

The fields west of the Fasag road are marked by clear rig lines - they are either drainage lines, which have since collapsed (hence the rushes), or the vestigial remains of the rigs that would have been created by the crofters after Duncan Darroch gave them land in the late 1870s/1880s, or the flattened rigs ploughed when the farm of Torridon Mains was in most use. <1>
