Full Description

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment for the National Trust estate at Torridon was carried out by J Wordsworth and J Harden between 1996 and 2002.

Various shieling structures were recorded.
87.1; A drystone structure which measures cam by c1.5m internally with walls c0.5m wide and standing up to lm high is aligned W-E and its west side is set against a large boulder. A small circular 'store' c2.5m diameter is set against the SW corner. About 14m to south, there is a sub-rectangular setting of stones just visible around the edge of a grassy platform which could be a shieling structure c4m in 'diameter'.
87.2; Some 115m to the SW of the above is a sub-rectangular drystone structure c3m by c4m over walls c0.4m wide and c0.3m high. About 10m to the south there is a short length of 'wall' which could be forming the SW side of a shieling structure c3m square/in diameter but the feature is swathed in bracken. <1>
