Full Description
A group of shieling huts to the west of Beinn nan Carn, Skye.
The sites were surveyed by M Wildgoose in 1999 in advance of a proposed woodland creation scheme. A group of ruinous multi-cell stone shielings lying below a small west facing limestone outcrop on a green grassy patch in the heather. The group consists of a 6 cell example, lying at the foot of the outcrop, 2 twin celled shielings lying 35m to the southwest and a poorly preserved example lying some 25m to the south. All are constructed out of limestone boulders and slabs. <1>
Most of the features, particularly the multi-celled example are visible on vertical aerial photography. <2>
