Full Description

The probable township of Dalamein. <1>

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken by A Coombs at Dalnamein for the Sutherland Longhouse Project, a community engagement project hosted by Historylinks Museum, Dornoch in 2019-20.

Site 37: The byre is likely to have been built around 1813, along with the shepherd's house and enclosure which abuts the NW wall of the byre. The byre is stone built with mortar and some areas of harling on the east part of the building. Although fully upstanding it has a partial tin roof and wooden extension, the byre does not appear to be in use and its condition is deteriorating.<2>

NGR adjusted based on 2011 vertical aerial photographs. <3>
