Full Description

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken by J Wordsworth and J Harden at Torridon for the National Trust for Scotland in 1996-2002.

A possible turf walled structure c3m by c2m and possibly longer is largely obscured by grasses and rushes on the W bank of the Allt Slugach. It is aligned E/W. Another bracken-clad structure lies c8m NW of the turf structure. Not shown in 1837. This shieling area may be contemporary with TOR033 (MM) but if JW is correct then it may predate or postdate TOR033. The Slugach is a grassy flush now dominated by coarse grasses but may have been more herb-rich in the past. Botanical survey to establish extent of former grazings? <1>

Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location based on grid coordinates. (TB 17/9/25)
