Full Description
The pre-crofting township of Breakish on Skye. The full boundary is shown on Matthew Stobie's 1766 map of the Strath Estate of Sir James Macdonald, but it is only possible to trace this on vertical aerial photography where it coincides with natural and topgraphical features. Stobie shows several areas of cultivation with what appear to be buildings and although the later crofting townships of Upper and Lower Breakish (see MHG27801 and MHG27802) have been superimposed on these, some of them correspond with where cultivation can be seen on aerial photographs, especially in what latre became Upper Breakish. <1> <2> <3>
