Full Description
A rapid walk-over archaeological survey was carried out in 1999 by J. Wordsworth as part of the preparation for a planned Community Woodland in Knoydart.
Site 20: Massive rounded boulder blocks c1m square by 0.5m thick define the site of the mill on the Allt a’Mhuilinn. On the E bank a platform 3m wide by 10m long probably marks the site of the mill structure. As there is no sign of a mill leat and the boulders are only visible on either side of this 10m stretch, it probably operated as a clack mill directly into the flow of the river. The site is badly obscured by brambles and other vegetation but is probably relatively stable. <1>
Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location based on report map. (TB 11/8/25)
