Summary

The remains of an enclosure dyke.

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status

  • None recorded

Full Description

A rapid walk-over archaeological survey was carried out in 1999 by J. Wordsworth as part of the preparation for a planned Community Woodland in Knoydart. <1>

Site 9: The remains of an enclosure dyke can be seen as recorded on the current OS map, immediately north of the modern road. Traces of dyking observed in the woodland to the north & west suggest it may have linked with the enclosure site 5 (see MHG64549), but this was not definitely established. There may have been further cultivation to the north of this dyke but this was not observed. <1>
