Full Description
A field evaluation walk-over of an area affected by the proposed Woodland Grant Scheme was conducted at Balchladich, Assynt by C. Dagg in 1999.
Site 8: Sheepfank. Two rectangular structures, the larger measuring 6m. by 4.8m, making use of the rockface for its back wall and with one internal dividing wall, the smaller measuring 3.6m. By 2.4m. Between the two enclosures is a concrete sheep dip. The smaller enclosure has been given a concrete floor and a mortar skim to its internal walls. The surplus mortar has been applied to stones on the outside walls in order to inscribe the names of those responsible for the improvements. Most names are now illegible, the two legible names are Angus McAskill and K. McLeod. <1>
