Full Description

Raasay Survey 2000. Site 55: Just below the west end of Torran, facing due south across Loch Amish, lie the slight remains of a rectangular structure butted into a dyke. About 2.0m of the structure is incorporated into the later dyke. With only 1.0m of built stone, 0.80m high, standing out at right angles from the wall it is difficult to judge the size and purpose of the building. From the flattish area in front, it is possible it was about 6.0m in length but the remains are so badly degraded that this can only be conjecture. The dyke is clearly of later construction than the building which was probably robbed to construct the dyke. <1>

Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location based on grid coordinates. (TB 22/7/25)
