Full Description

Raasay Survey 2000. Site 14; About 200m northwest of feature 13 and just to the east of the col between Creag Bhan and Sithean Mor, an area of level ground has been largely cleared of stone. On the north side stone has been piled up in heaps. The south side is bounded by the head-dyke running at the foot of the cliff. The cleared area extends to about 12m north of the dyke and 24m along it. Against large boulders which have fallen from the cliff cleared stone has been used to build small shelters and pens. Among these is a shelter about 2m wide formed by large boulders on the east and west with a small length of walling between, 0.50m high and with a spread of about lm Adjacent to the east, sharing a common wall, another shelter, 5.50m by 1.50m, has a wall up to 0.30m high and 0.70m thick, curving back to the dyke. Both have possible entrances at the west end. A third structure, 6m to the east, on the eastern edge of the cleared area is built against a large 2m high freestanding boulder with an overhang on its northwest edge. The single course of stone forms a small shelter about 2m by lm under the overhang. <1>
