Full Description
A rapid walk-over survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme application at North Applecross, Wester Ross, was undertaken by C. Dagg.
Site no. I5: Shielings. This shieling site is high, between 750ft and 800 ft. contours, and consists of one rectangular building on the south bank of the burn and several storage structures scattered around the relatively level area. One structure is on the burn above the main area, tucked into the bank. It is roughly rectangular, but divided into two small compartments by a substantial wall. Below this area, the burn and the ground fall away steeply. <1>
