Full Description

A rapid walk-over survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme application at North Applecross, Wester Ross, was undertaken by C. Dagg.

Site no F15: Extensive area of cultivation, buildings, cairns, lazy beds, dykes. This large area of activity extends from 30m west of the footpath at the point where it crosses the Allt na Marachd, to the shore of Loch Bhraighaig. The buildings and most other structures are concentrated on the green, better drained ground on the north-facing slope between the footpath and the loch, while the lazybeds are immediately below the path north of the Allt na Marachd. A low meandering dyke encloses the area on the hillslopes to the west and south, while straight turf dykes cross the low lying ground.<1>
