Full Description
The possible site of a millhouse at Spitalfield, Breakachy.
The site of a mill is shown on several Estate maps in the Lovat Estate Collection (see MHG64292) near the modern 'Spitalfield' near Breakachy. A small group of buildings is shown to the southwest of the mill on one dating to 1798-1800 and this would equate with the position of two buildings shown on the OS 1st edition 25 inch map labelled 'Millcroft'. This was presumably the location of the millhouse. <1> <2>
The foundations of the larger of the two buildings shown on the Os 1st Edition 25 inch map is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2009 and 2023. <3> <4>
