Full Description

A rapid walk-over survey was conducted over an area affected by the proposed Woodland Grant Scheme at Little Assynt by C. Dagg in 1999.

Site no. 9: Turf dyke. A turf boundary dyke most likely predating the drystone dyke (Site no. 10) runs from the shore of Loch Leitir Easaidh between the dykes (Sites no. 6&10) then curves to merge with the drystone dyke. It can then be traced after the drystone dyke ends, running all the way to Loch Gleannan a' Choit. Where it enters the defile it has been rebuilt to allow a gateway.

Site no. 10: Drystone dyke. 19' century style of drystone dyke running up the brae from Loch Leitir Easaidh and built over the line of the original turf dyke (Site no.9) until the ground levels out and enters a narrow defile.<1>
