Full Description
A walkover survey was carried out by Cannich Archaeological Services in 1999 of parts of the RSPB reserve at Corrimony prior to tree-planting.
Section 5, Site 16: Wall. Runs uphill ESE - WNW for 2 m directly under the electric fence, on the eastward-facing slope to the west of the road. Consists of a single line of large boulders. At the western (uphill) end, another line of boulders runs northwards. On the south side of the fence lies a further scatter of boulders. About 15 m away to the east (downhill), a further short line of stones lies directly under the fence. The stones lie among heather, grass and bracken, but are not directly covered by vegetation and thus do not really look like ancient walling. However, they may represent a wall deliberately dismantled and slighted at the time of the construction of the electric fence, with the stones lying in line directly under the fence representing the lowest course of the original wall. <1>
