Full Description
A walkover survey was carried out by Cannich Archaeological Services in 1999 of parts of the RSPB reserve at Corrimony prior to tree-planting.
Section 5, Site 11: Wall. Runs WNW - ESE between 5 m and 8 m south of the fence which forms the northern boundary of section 5. It is shown on one edition of the OS map as continuing further WNW across the Allt a' Choire Mhoir to meet the boundary fence at NH 3658 2905 where it is also crossed by a track, but at the time of the present survey it could not be seen further west than NH 3684 2900, where it turns sharply northwards and runs up to the boundary fence. In the east it ends to the west of the road. Width generally 1 m to 2 m, but towards the SE end it appears in laces to be double, possibly the result of a rebuilding not following the original line. Maximum height 30 cm. Built of stones, covered in the east mainly by grass and bracken, with more heather towards the west, where it becomes lower and less clear, with fewer stones visible.
