Full Description

An archaeological survey of the Glencripesdale National Nature Reserve was commissioned by Scottish Natural Heritage and undertaken by J. G. Robertson in 1999.

Site 10. Low broad wall, running parallel to the shore, c. 10m above the high tide mark. This wall may be the northernmost part of the woodland enclosure wall, Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, built in 1787-8, under the instructions of the Duke of Argyll (See above p. 8) It runs northwards for 60m and then turns westwards for 3m to reach a rocky promontory jutting into the sea. The wall consists largely of a single layer of rough boulders and smaller stones.
