Full Description
This site was visited by R. Spencer-Jones and S. North of NoSAS in March 2025.
Well; just west of the un-named burn that flows steeply southwards to the Neaty Burn is a constructed well. Two large stones are set upright into the slope of the hill, either side of a scooped depression of water. Laid on top of these is a large slab of stone 1.6m east-west, 2.0m north-south, which slopes to the east (ie the eastern support stone is less high than the western). The entrance to the well faces southwest. It is unusual to see a well so close to a burn. Its significance is unknown. <1>
