Full Description

Historic Assynt visited this site in 2016.

Two enclosures and a variety of shieling huts (the largest oval ones 5 x 3m. the smaller ones more circular and approx 3 - 4m diam), pens, dairies , clearance cairns and less clearly defined structures or natural accumulations of stones are spread across a wide north/north east facing hillside to the south and south west of Loch Awe. The eastern enclosure is marked on Homes Survey map of Ledbeg and a large Chambered cairn (MHG 13040 MMRS NC21SW1) lies adjoining the dyke to the south west. The western enclosure is smaller and higher up the hillside and has not been previously recorded. The majority of the shieling huts etc are within the two enclosures but some possible structures lie outside them both. <1>
