Full Description

Historic Assynt visited this site in February 2015.

The largest of four stells on the west facing slopes between the Bone Caves and Lyne. It is roughly built of irregular largely unworked stones, has a diameter of 20.8m and the walls would have originally stood up to .70m high with a further .30m of turf although most of the turf has eroded and the stone wall (approx 50m -80m wide) is deteriorating. There is a ruined entrance on the north side. Its construction methods and large size suggest it may have been the earliest of the stells on this hillside which may well have been replaced by the three smaller ones in the later 19th century or more recently. <1>
