Full Description

Historic Assynt visited this site in December 2014.

Building foundation externally 9.3 x 5.4m, internally 7 x 3.8m aligned SSE - NNW with the SW wall surviving to over 1.5m high incorporated into a dyke running a few metres north of the top of a small gorge through which the River Traligill flows. The other walls stand barely 20cms high. the doorway was in the west corner of the northwest wall. Judging by the surviving southwest wall the structure was deliberately built to allow air in as found in barns within Assynt. It lies 50m from the Minister's drying kiln and thus may have been associated with it. <1>

NGR adjusted based on 2009 vertical aerial photographs. <2>
