Full Description
Historic Assynt visited this site in November 2014.
Burnt Mound: 8.5m diam, heather and grass covered, horse-shoe shaped mound opening on to a possible old water course to the southeast. Height approx 2m. In a natural depression between two re-entrant limestone ridges with ground sloping to southwest. Modern burn to southwest but lots of surface water and old channels across lower ground. Soils peaty, stream beds pipe rock and quartzite stones and gravel.
