Full Description

A hut circle to the west of Helmsdale. It is one of two (see MHG63868 for the possible second site) within an extensive area of clearance cairns (see MHG63899) visible in SEPA LiDAR data. It measures c.11.5m in diameter and appears to have an entrance on the southeast. There is a roughly square area immediately adjacent to the west measuring c.32m x 26m that is completely clear of clearance cairns which is possibly demarcated by a bank or ditch. Outside the entrance of the hut circle there are slight indications of what may be a slightly raised area c.8m in diameter. It may be an associated structure or possibly an earlier hut circle. <1>
