Full Description

A walkover survey was undertaken at Strathglass and Strathfarrar by R. Spencer-Jones and S. North of NoSAS between 2021 and 2024.

Shieling settlement:
Site S01. NH 38506 42075 GPS, NH38496 42084 (2009 Aps). Possible shieling, quite large. SW end, or ridge of structure up to 0.6m high. Other walls rather vague. 8x4m.
Site S02, NH 38528 42091 GPS, NH38516 42099 (2009 Aps). Low turf walls up to 0.4m, sub-rectangular building, NE-SW. 4x2.5m.
Site S03, NH 38527 42128 GPS, NH38513 42315 (2009 Aps). Low turf walls. Definite shieling. NE-SW. 6.5x3m.
Site S04, NH 38527 42128 GPS, NH38529 42146 (2009 Aps.) Low turf walls. Prominent sub-rectangular building, on small platform. NE-SW. 5x3m. <1>
