Full Description

A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by Clyde Archaeology in 2023 in relation to a proposed underground cable south of Mybster, Caithness.

Site 82a: Two possible fallen standing stones were reported above Rangang Farm by the local landowner during field survey for the proposed underground cable. Although
outside the survey corridor the sites were visited. A flat stone measuring 1m by 0.6 lay flat on the surface and was partially covered by turf at the eastern end. The landowner reported that the stone continued beneath the turf but this was not clear at the time of the visit. It isunlikely this stone is significant and is most likely either natural in origin or from an old quarry situated 20m to the south-east. <1>
