Full Description
A mill site to the southeast of Milnafua, Ardross.
The site is shown on an estate map of Culrain belonging to George Monroe dated 1810, surveyed 'Harvest 1810' by James Chapman, in the Sutherland Estate collections of the National Library of Scotland. The map shows the estate divided into lots in preparation for presumed sale. The mill is shown as a building labelled 'miln' on the east side of a burn or lade which runs southeastwards from a 'Miln Dam', itself connected at its north end to a lochan, labelled simply 'water'. A second building, possibly the miller's house or a barn, lies immediately to the north of the mill. To the immediate east two enclosures are shown and a third and larger building, which may have been the miller's house, is shown to the north of the enclosures. A second burn or lade is shown running from the lochan immediately above the mill dam which joins the first some way to the southeast of the mill. <1>
