Remains of a number of shieling huts at Allt Baile na Cuileach, Strathfarrar.
Included in field survey by R Spencer-Jones in 2022 (Allt Baile na Cuileach 3, 4a, 4b, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). Shieling Building or Shieling Platform. More information awaited. <1>
A walkover survey was undertaken at Strathglass and Strathfarrar by R. Spencer-Jones and S. North of NoSAS between 2021 and 2024.
Site S01: NH 39398 42563 (NH39396 42571 LiDAR). On platform on side of south facing slope. Sub-rectangular. Low turf walls 3.5 x 2.5m.
Site S03: NH 39422 42572 (NH39417 42578 LiDAR). On platform. Turf edges 5 x 2m.
Site S04: NH 39416 42587 (NH39409 42600 LiDAR). Significant stone wall surviving, up to 0.6m. Entrance on northeast, facing downslope. Could be more recent than the others. Abutting this is a roundish structure. Stones visible at west end. Orientated north-south 5 x 2.5m.
Site S05: NH 39423 42587 (NH39419 42599 LiDAR). On a platform. Orientated WNW-ESE. Turf walls 3 x 2m.
Site S06: NH 39446 42605 (NH39443 42609 LiDAR). On a shallow platform. Turf walls. Orientated WSE-ENE 3 x 2m.
Site S07: NH 39453 42602 (NH39445 42607 LiDAR). On a platform. Turf walls. Orientated SSE-NNW 3.5 x 2m.
Site S08: NH 39456 42592 (NH39454 42602 LiDAR). A neat shieling on a small platform. Turf walls. Orientated SSE-NNW 3.5 x 2m.
Site S09: NH 39464 42607 (NH39458 42610 LiDAR). On a high platform. Entrance in N. Orientated SSW-NNE. Sunken path/track between this and S08. 4 x 2.5m.
Site S010: NH 39460 42616 (NH39454 42618 LiDAR). On a high platform 4 x 2.5m. <2>
