Full Description
NG26SW 11.01 2263 6128.
On the E side of the burn to the E of Trumpan Church are two parallel buildings; that to the S has an outshot while that to the N is overlain by what may be the township boundary dyke. A quern which has been utilised as a whetstone lies on the bank adjacent to the southernmost building having recently been pulled from the stream. The saddle quern is a substantial boulder measuring 0.9m by 0.65m and 0.35m in height, and the dished grinding surface takes up the whole of the top. All around the edge of the griding surface there are knife-sharpening grooves which fan out from the centre.
