Full Description
A single drystone rectangular structure was recorded during an NTS pre-afforestation survey of Kintail and West Affric in 1997. It was located high above Invershiel at c.220m OD, and was well hidden set into the hillslope adjacent to a burn. It was aligned E-W and measured c.7m by c.3m over walls c.0.5m wide and c.0.5m high. There were extensive peat cuttings on the terrace above. This building may have been a bothy for peat cutting, but it was sufficiently close to Invershiel for this to be unnecessary. It is more plausibly interpreted as a still site. <1> <2>
