Full Description

The site was visited and photographed by D Glass in April 2009 and April 2013. He described the site as:
"A farmstead consisting of 2 buildings with their long axes aligned approximately NW-SE.
The Southern building is rectangular, 9.2 metres long and 4.2 metres wide. The walls stand to a height of one metre and there are signs of crude repair in places. There is a single entrance on the North side. A well-preserved kiln is situated at the East end.
The Northern building lies parallel to the Southern building and is 14 metres from it. This is a long building 26.7 metres long and 4 metres wide. It has 3 compartments. One of the dividing walls is not bound into the external walls and might be later addition or a rebuild. The walls stand to a height of up to one metre.
Stone dykes abut the SW corners of both buildings.
Parallel to the North building and spaced 3.3 metres from its North side there is a grassed-over and less well-preserved rectangular structure of similar dimensions. The remaining walls are discontinuous. This might be a second long building but appears more likely to be a pen.
A cast iron flue pipe set into a corrugated iron roof ridge section was found in the vicinity of the buildings.
The First Series OS Six Inch map depicts a single roofed building." <1>
