Full Description
At Achnacloich, opposite Cnoc an Teampuill, there is the traditional site of a chapel (Information from Misses Macdonald, Achnacloich, Tarskavaig). It lies 90m NE of the Gillean Burn and is marked by a low mound which is crossed by a baulk dividing two crofts. On the baulk there is a large heap of stones, probably building material deposited there during field clearance. One of the stones, with the appearance of a crude font, measures 0.5m by 0.3m by 0.3m. In depth with a hollow 0.4m by 0.2m. By 0.1m. In depth: one end is broken. It is called the Teampuill Stone and was once used by local people in the belief that illnesses of the hands could be cured by immersing them in the water which collected in the hollow (Information from Misses Macdonald),
